NOTICE AND WARNING
CAUTION: The helmets presented here will provide no protection whatsoever if damaged, if worn without chin strap securely fastened, or if impact is to portion of head not covered by helmet. Equestrian helmets offering more protection may be capable of being designed and/or may not be presently available, and helmets or headgear designed or used for other than equestrian activities may provide greater protection to the head than do equestrian helmets.
Helmets must fit well and all retention straps must be securely fastened. Helmets are constructed so that the energy of an impact may be absorbed through partial destruction of the helmet. Helmets that suffer an impact should be destroyed and replaced. The protective qualities of helmets may be compromised by prior impact, age, use and many common substances. Always follow the manufacturer recommendations before applying cleaning agents, paints, or adhesives.
DISCLAIMER: Six Furlongs Sportwear® disclaims any responsibility for injuries or death incurred while wearing any of the helmets offered for sale. Representations regarding testing results, equipment ratings, product specifications, ASTM and/or SEI standards, and the adequacy of all such standards and designations are made solely by the product manufacturer. Six Furlongs Sportwear® does not warrant or confirm the representations of the manufacturers. Six Furlongs Sportwear® makes no representations express or implied regarding the fitness of these products for any particular purpose nor the extent to which the products protect riders from injury or death.
The hats shown with EN1384 approval are represented by the manufacturers to meet EN standards and certification, which is the European equivalent of the *ASTM/SEI. Six Furlongs Sportwear® or any of its employees make no warranty as to this representation, nor do we make any representation or warranty with regard to the adequacy or reliability of such standard.
The ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) is an organization comprised of thousands of skilled volunteers including doctors, engineers and physicists. It is the job of the ASTM to set standards for many types of safety equipment. The ASTM has created criteria for horseback riding helmets to adhere to. These standards are summarized in ASTM F 1163.
The SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) is an independent laboratory that tests helmets to be sure they meet the ASTM standard.
